Splish Splash

This was Arinn's first time in the big bath tub and I guess you could say she liked it. She has always loved her baths but I think she loves them even more now that she can sit up a bit and not be held.
I think she is pretty cute!

Steven's Grad

On Saturday April 19, 2008 Steven participated in the graduation ceremonies for his Masters of Arts in Christian Studies. This video is from that day. When I saw him walk across that stage, I was so proud of him and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. He has worked so hard for so long and at that one moment, it became aware to me of just how much work it was to get here.

He has just one more course to complete this summer and then he is complete. I had to laugh a little bit when he took his grad essay to campus to hand it in. He had been working nonstop on his essay for many months and had spent many sleepless nights sitting at the computer before he finished it so he could hand it in on time. After he handed the finished project to the professor, he went to the school book store and bought the text books for the course that he is taking this summer. That evening, I caught him sleeping on the couch with the new textbook on his chest. He was so excited about his next class that he just HAD to start the text right away!

Potty Humour

This evening while I was doing dishes, Carathy had to use the bathroom. I heard her mutter under her breath, "I have to go pee" and off she ran. Five seconds later she called to me and asked if I could bring her some more toilet paper. I called back asking if she had sat down on the toilet yet, thinking that I if she hadn't, I could just tell her where the toilet paper is. She called out, "Yeah, I sat down and I even went pee already!" All of a sudden from upstairs I hear this little voice yell down, "Good Job!"
I guess that potty training encouragement is getting through to Carathy's little brother!!

A Special Bond

On Good Friday Arinn got to meet her Great Grandma Schellenberg for the first time.
Arinn was born on the same day that her Great Grandpa Schellenberg went to be with Jesus. She entered this world at 7:40 pm BC time and Grandpa left it at 7:40 Sask. time.
I think that Arinn will always hold a special place in Grandma's heart.

Our Easter Trip To Gem

We started our trip Saturday morning at 5:00 and for the first hour everything was going smoothly. Then, all of a sudden our radiator blew and we were stopped on the side of the road. So at 6:15 in the morning, we phoned BCAA and asked for a tow. They told it us it would be at least an hour because they had to send out the big tow truck for all 5 of us to fit. The tow truck eventually arrived and we shuffled the kids into it. Caleb was so excited and asked if the tow truck was going to take us all the way to Gem!
When the driver dropped us off at the nearest garage in Hope, he told us that they opened in half an hour so we made our way to the nearest McDonalds for a second breakfast. When the garage opened, we found out that they wouldn't be able to fix the van until Monday so we started exploring our other options. We decided to call Steven's brother, Dave and see if he could come and get us or at least give us a tow and when we called, he was just driving by the MCDonalds that we were stopped at! Only God's perfect timing could make that happen. He walked into the restaurant less than a minute after Steven called and man, was it good to see him.
We ended up deciding that our only option to get the car fixed that day was for the guys to head back into Langley (1 1/2 hour drive one way) and get a radiator, then drive back to Hope and put it in themselves. That left the only option for the girls and I to stay put in Hope. Without a car. So we walked to the nearby grocery store, picked up a book to read and some silly putty to play with and then settled into a booth at McDonalds to wait. We were there for 5 hours until the guys made it back. They fixed the van in the parking lot of the garage and we left as soon as we could. As we were driving out of Hope, Carathy asked, "Are we almost there?" Sadly, I had to tell her that we were still only a half hour from home!

Once we got to Gem, it was great to see everyone there and hang out together. We had planned to have a big Schellenberg party for Good Friday and that was exciting to get a chance to see cousins again that I had not seen for 10 years!!
