We started our trip Saturday morning at 5:00 and for the first hour everything was going smoothly. Then, all of a sudden our radiator blew and we were stopped on the side of the road. So at 6:15 in the morning, we phoned BCAA and asked for a tow. They told it us it would be at least an hour because they had to send out the big tow truck for all 5 of us to fit. The tow truck eventually arrived and we shuffled the kids into it. Caleb was so excited and asked if the tow truck was going to take us all the way to Gem!
When the driver dropped us off at the nearest garage in Hope, he told us that they opened in half an hour so we made our way to the nearest McDonalds for a second breakfast. When the garage opened, we found out that they wouldn't be able to fix the van until Monday so we started exploring our other options. We decided to call Steven's brother, Dave and see if he could come and get us or at least give us a tow and when we called, he was just driving by the MCDonalds that we were stopped at! Only God's perfect timing could make that happen. He walked into the restaurant less than a minute after Steven called and man, was it good to see him.
We ended up deciding that our only option to get the car fixed that day was for the guys to head back into Langley (1 1/2 hour drive one way) and get a radiator, then drive back to Hope and put it in themselves. That left the only option for the girls and I to stay put in Hope. Without a car. So we walked to the nearby grocery store, picked up a book to read and some silly putty to play with and then settled into a booth at McDonalds to wait. We were there for 5 hours until the guys made it back. They fixed the van in the parking lot of the garage and we left as soon as we could. As we were driving out of Hope, Carathy asked, "Are we almost there?" Sadly, I had to tell her that we were still only a half hour from home!

Once we got to Gem, it was great to see everyone there and hang out together. We had planned to have a big Schellenberg party for Good Friday and that was exciting to get a chance to see cousins again that I had not seen for 10 years!!
