Just a bit of Encouragement

Today I had a job for the kids. I had a gift that I had bought for their cousin, Katelyn which included several pieces that were wrapped in plastic and cardboard wrapping and needed to be opened so that we could send the whole thing in the mail. Carathy figured that she could open it all by herself and I figured that it would give her something to do. She struggled with it for quite a while and Caleb sat there cheering her on. I knew that she had almost accomplished her goal when Caleb encouraged her, "Good job, Carathy! You are such a super good jobber!"

Doctor, Doctor

Lately Caleb has been sneaking food that he shouldn't be eating. He sneaks down early in the morning (usually around 4:00 or 5:00) and goes into the pantry, helps himself to whatever he wants and then sits under the kitchen table to eat it. When I get downstairs, there is usually a pile of wrappers or crumbs depending on what he decided he wanted to eat. He always looks so guilty if he is caught but usually he eats it pretty quick so he doesn't actually get caught in the act. I have started trying to explain to him that the doctor said he shouldn't eat those things and that if he keeps eating them he won't get better. I thought that if he knew the doctor had said he couldn't eat that stuff, it might make a difference and he may listen to him.
Yesterday when I was baking, he was in the kitchen wanting to help. I told him that he couldn't help me with that particular food but he could just watch me instead. He started to climb onto the counter to get a better view and when I told him that he couldn't sit up there he said, "Yeah I can. The doctor said I could."
He may understand one day........
