A New Invention

Today I attempted to make butterhorns. Knowing how much people like my mom's and her talent at making them precedes her, I thought I would use her recipe and give it a try. Caleb helped me all afternoon mixing the dough, watching it rise, punching it down, forming them and baking them. The whole time I talked with him about how they would be bad for him if he ate them because of all the things in it that he is allergic to and that when they were done baking, he could have one teeny taste. The time came for them to come out of the oven (much to my pacing husbands' glee) and they were no sooner on the cooling rack when Caleb asked for that teeny taste. Between mouthfuls of fresh (piping hot) butterhorn, Steven told him that he would have to wait until they cooled a bit and then he could have a taste. When he was finally allowed a bite, Caleb loved it. He thought they were the greatest thing ever and asked for more right away. Steven made a comment that next time I should make them with olives for Caleb and that would make them even more special! Caleb liked that idea and seemed to be okay with waiting until that the time came that I would make his version just for him.
Quite a while later he came back into the kitchen while I was pulling yet another pan out of the oven when he got all excited and asked if I was finished making his "olivehorns." I had to tell him that I wasn't sure if I would be able to make olivehorns and he would have to wait quite a bit longer for something like that.
I can't help but wonder if the butterhorn queen herself could come up with something like that........Mom, think you could attempt a try at that one?
