Cat Got Your Tongue?

This morning while we were eating breakfast the kids and I were discussing the reasons behind the broken robin's egg and robin feathers left on our lawn. We finally came to the conclusion that an animal must have tried to get an egg from a robin's nest and the mother bird tried to get it away from the animal, only to have it's own life taken. Carathy was sure that it was a cat because cat's climb trees so they can reach nests. Then she wondered if it was her own cat, Waldo that was the culprit. I told her that it probably wasn't likely because Waldo lives with Grandpa and Grandma in Gem. Caleb chimed in and said, "Well, maybe Waldo was here to hike up Teapot Hill."
Yes, I told him, because cats can hike.

All Night Long

On our way home from grocery shopping this evening, Carathy and I were driving on the freeway when we came across a sign that said we were entering into a construction zone that was in effect between 8 pm and 5 am. As we passed by the workers that were all standing around in a circle talking (sound familiar?!?) she asked what they were doing. I told her that they were just starting work and would be working all night. She didn't even skip a beat and said, "Oh, so you mean they're nocturnal."
Hmmm, apparently something sunk in during the school year.

Hike up Teapot Hill

On the last weekend of May, I had the priviledge to go with a group of mom's from our church on a ladies weekend retreat to Whistler. While I was gone, Steven took the kids up the hiking trail near our house called "Teapot Hill." He took Arinn in the backpack and the other two walked up and he said that they did really well. I think I will have to join them next time!

Caleb-isms

My crazy boy keeps us laughing all the time. He has a habit of creating his own little language and sometimes it takes us a while to figure out what he is trying to say.
-A steak knife becomes......"mistake knife"
-His grandpa (whom Carathy calls Grandpa Squeaks) has now been renamed "Spencer's Grandpa" because we all know they have a dog named Spencer.
-A hotel has now been known as a "show and tell." Why? I don't know.
-Sometimes things can "take for long time" if you are impatient
-Some objects are often "in back of" something else if you can't see them
-Often times it takes him forty six "um's" to start the sentence he really wanted to say
He is so precious. I am so glad he is part of our family because life would sure be boring without him!

My Cute Baby

These pictures were taken during a recent trip to the beach. I thought they were so cute I just had to share them. It is hard to believe she is walking and talking now. Well, I guess not talking too much but she does love to walk around saying, "dirty baby." She know a few other words but those are her favorites.
